Christmas Joy Quilt in a Day! Ha!!!

Hey everyone, Pam here on September 1 2025.

This is actually a post from December 1 2024.  I started writing it on my phone but wasn't able to add pictures.  I took the pictures but never actually added them to the post until today via my computer.

Yes I know, only 9 months later.

I hope you enjoy following along as I start a quilt from two sheets.

I’m so excited to be starting and (hopefully) finishing a quilt today.

The pattern is Christmas Joy by Lo and Behold Stitchery.  You can purchase it online and do a PDF download .  Christmas Joy Quilt Pattern

But first I have to clean up.  It is too cold to be working in the unheated sewing room behind the garage.

Before

After

Follow along and see how it goes.

I decided to wash the red sheet in case it ran.

Guess how long a “quick wash” takes on my machine...

I don’t really know.

Started at 10:12.

Still filling at 10:26.  What????

Oh oh! Look at the colour! It's bleeding.

Better add vinegar to stop the bleed

 Still going at 10:56

I’m quite impatient.  Who knew?

Now to cut open and iron this humongous  double bed sheet I got at my local thrift store.

It is a fitted sheet so is more difficult to use.

I needed help from my dear husband to hold the elastic as I cut it off.

I’m going to save the top border of the flat sheet to use for a ready made hanging sleeve - think Quilt Show! (Who says I’m not organized?)

Ooooohhh. Look at all that beautiful claret fabric!

Lovely!

About 84 inches wide!  Fabulous!!!!

It's been snowing up a storm.

And I've been sewing up a mess of half square triangles.

  The production line.

Oops!  It wasn't all Joy.  I did have to do some unpicking.

Time lapse...

 December 7 2024

  December 8 2024

I looked for some leaders and enders and inadvertently started a new quilt.
The pinks and greens are for Patchwork Garden by Jan Patek.

And if that wasn't ridiculous enough....
I was bitten by the Christmas bug and started squares for an Advent Calendar.

Well here it is 9 months later ....
and I haven't finished any of the above and of course have started a few more quilts.

I am presently working on the following three.

 Pink and white hexies

Pink and White Squares

I need to sew two seams and add four borders.
Easy peasy.
So what's the problem?
I don't know.

and

a brand new one from Jan Patek called Bird Song

All hand applique.
I will do a post on this one day.
I did take pictures for it.
It is going quite slowly and I seem to have misplaced a piece or two.
